Job summary

Ampirical is seeking a Substation Engineering Supervisor to lead the design and protection schemes for high‑voltage substations. The role involves mentoring engineering staff, performing studies, and delivering compliant, constructible designs for transmission and distribution projects.

You will use ASPEN, ETAP, and AcSELerator to validate protection settings, conduct short-circuit analyses, and support field teams during turnkey substation deployments. Travel to client sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
• Professional Engineer license preferred.
• 8+ years of substation design experience in electric utility.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and train engineering staff in relay protection and control design.
• Identify and implement protection schemes for transmission and distribution substations.
• Prepare scopes of work, estimates, and conceptual designs for substation projects.
• Create and review drawing packages: wiring diagrams, schematics, protection panels, one-line diagrams.
• Perform power system studies: short-circuit analysis, relay coordination, loadability.
