Job summary

Ampirical is seeking a Relay Protection and Controls Engineer to design and procure protective relaying equipment for substations, switchyards, and transmission lines. You will ensure adherence to design and construction scopes and provide field support to clients during construction activities.

The role requires a ABET-accredited EE or BSEE degree, 4+ years in electrical system design, and PE certification. Experience with ETAP, WinIGS, IEEE standards, and CAD tools is valuable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• 4+ years of experience engineering/designing electrical systems within the Utilities or Energy industry.
• PE Certification.
• Knowledge of protection & controls, SCADA, RTU configuration is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify proper protection and control schemes for transmission and distribution substations.
• Select proper protection devices for equipment within a substation.
• Prepare scopes of work and estimates for evaluating and designing substations.
• Interface with clients and vendors.
• Mentor new engineers.
