Job summary

Qualifications

• ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
• Engineer II requires ABET degree plus 2 years engineering experience (utility operator experience counted as engineering).
• Engineer III requires ABET degree plus 5 years, or master’s with 3 years, or PhD with 2 years; utility operator experience counted as engineering experience.
• Principal Engineer requires ABET degree plus 10 years, or master’s with 8 years, or PhD with 7 years; utility operator experience counted as engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering work on PPL’s substations, 12kV to 500kV.
• Develops technical expertise in substation equipment design (transformers, breakers, switches, AC/DC systems, relays).
• Provides engineering support during planning and construction of large projects.
• Oversees contract engineers and coordinates across multiple disciplines.
• Gathers and correlates engineering data using defined procedures; may conduct diagnostics.
• May be assigned emergency/storm role requiring afterhours work.
• All other duties and projects as assigned.
