Job summary

Dominion Energy Virginia’s Electric Transmission-Substation Engineering department invites an engaged student to join the Protection & Control (P&C) Design Team for Summer 2027. You will work with engineers, drafters, and field technicians on active substation projects, learning how designs advance from scope to energization.

The internship provides mentoring, site visits, and a summer project that ties academic concepts to real utility work; strong curiosity and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of electrical circuits and engineering principles.
• Interest in electric power systems, substations, protection and control, or energy infrastructure.
• Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn new technical concepts.
• Ability to read, follow, and apply written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Support protection & control design efforts for substation projects.
• Attend site visits and mentoring sessions to connect academic learning with utility work.
