Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking System Protection Interns for Summer 2027 in Elizabeth City to gain real-world experience in electric transmission and distribution. You will work with System Protection Technicians to build foundational knowledge of substations, high-voltage testing, relays, and control circuits while developing field operations skills.

Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving skills with mechanical and/or electrical equipment and control circuits.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Solid math, technical, and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret electrical design drawings.
• Assist with infrared scans and basic instrument checkout and repair.
• Participate in high-voltage diagnostic testing and relay testing.
• Support functional testing of protection systems and control circuits.
• Shadow System Protection Technicians to gain insight into substation equipment and field operations.
