Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Akron, OH is seeking a Project Manager for Transmission & Distribution to lead electrical substation projects across multiple offices. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, and client relationships while coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring QA/QC adherence.

The role requires 7+ years of related experience with 3+ in T&D project management, a engineering degree, and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of related experience, including 3+ years managing engineering projects in Transmission & Distribution.
• Consulting experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with producing engineering design and construction documents.
• Ability to devise new approaches to problems.
• Proven success in project management including proposal development, contract negotiations, budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination.
• Professional registration and/or professional certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations.
• Leverage existing client relationships and focus on repeat work within each client account.
• Provide overall management of projects from concept to completion including siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, ROW acquisition, project controls, procurement, constructability reviews, and closeout.
• Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.
• Own internal project financials, staffing forecasts, risk management, change management, and HR issues.
• Serve as primary contact with clients regarding coordination, planning, budgeting, subcontracting, staffing, and environmental compliance.
• Manage all aspects of project communication.
• Develop and implement project policies, project controls, and execution plans.
• Direct and coordinate activities of several disciplines on routed projects.
• Ensure deliverables meet client satisfaction and QA/QC guidelines.
• Report progress, cost, and schedule metrics; address procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, and office needs.
• Travel to client and project locations as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
