Job summary

SunEnergy1 is seeking an experienced Substation Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and commissioning of utility-scale substation projects from initiation through energization.

You will manage scope, schedule, budget, permitting, and procurement; coordinate with engineering, procurement, operations, utilities, and contractors; and ensure compliance with IEEE, NESC, and safety standards. Travel to project sites as needed while leading weekly meetings and reporting progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Electrical/Civil Engineering or Construction Management).
• 5+ years of project management experience in substation or power infrastructure.
• Knowledge of HV equipment, protection & control, grounding.
• Experience with permitting, environmental compliance, and interconnection processes.
• Proficiency with MS Project, Primavera or Procore and Excel.
• PMP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of substation projects from design through energization.
• Manage scope, schedule, and budget to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, operations, utilities, and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE, NESC codes and safety regulations.
• Interface with regulatory agencies and permitting bodies.
• Track milestones and generate status reports for leadership.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and documentation.
• Lead weekly project meetings and coordinate with vendors.
• Support procurement of major equipment and ensure timely delivery.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
