Job summary

HDR Engineering is seeking a Substation Project Engineer to join our growing Power Delivery team. This on-site role supports scopes, schedules, and budgets while coordinating with Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission teams across multiple Northwest locations, including Olympia.

You will work on one-line diagrams, grounding, protection, and control systems, and you will mentor junior staff. HDR values an active, employee-owned culture and a commitment to delivering reliable power

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred).
• PE license required.
• Experience executing projects in the Power Market Sector.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and power market design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
• Active participant in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Support scopes, schedules, and budgets and ensure they are met.
• Understand substation design including grounding, protection, and control buildings.
• Understand protection and control design including schematics and wiring.
• Prepare calculations for grounding, lighting protection, and load studies.
• Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and testing.
• Coordinate design with Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission.
• Communicate effectively with managers, clients, and others.
• Independently work and mentor junior staff.
