Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Substation Planner in York, PA to plan, schedule, and support maintenance, construction, and capital projects for the substation fleet. You will coordinate resources, maintain records, and partner with supervisors, engineers, and contractors to ensure safe, efficient delivery of electric service.

Ideal candidates bring knowledge of substations and utility standards, strong data management, and the ability to travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's in Engineering Technology preferred.
• 3 years of relevant utility, substation, electrical construction, maintenance, planning, scheduling, or technical field experience required.
• Knowledge of substations, transmission/distribution systems, and related equipment.
• Familiarity with NESC/NEC and utility standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specs.
• Strong organizational and data management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule substation maintenance, construction, and capital projects to support reliability.
• Coordinate activities, staffing, equipment, switching orders, and documentation.
• Monitor progress and provide status reports and metrics to management.
• Collaborate with engineers, operations, contractors and property owners.
• Prepare work packages and assist with project closeout requirements.
• Support regulatory inspection preparation and documentation.
