Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Substation Planner for on-site work in Warren, OH or Youngstown, OH. The role supports planning, scheduling, and coordination for substations, ensuring safe and reliable operation and maintenance.

You will work with engineers, supervisors, contractors, and external stakeholders to deliver projects on time while complying with company standards. The ideal candidate has a degree in Engineering Technology or related field, with experience in substations and utility systems,

Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant utility, substation, electrical construction, maintenance, planning, scheduling, or technical field experience if no degree.
Working knowledge of electrical substations, transmission/distribution systems, and related equipment.
Basic understanding of NESC, NEC, and utility standards.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
Safe work practices and company procedures.

Responsibilities

Plan and schedule substation maintenance, construction, and capital projects to support system reliability and goals.
Coordinate work activities, staffing, equipment, materials, and documentation.
Maintain records and support project closeout and regulatory requirements.
Track progress, backlog, and provide status reports and metrics.
Collaborate with engineers, operations, and contractors to support projects and maintenance.
