Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Substation Planner in Ohio to coordinate maintenance, construction, and capital projects. You will support safe, reliable operation of substations by scheduling work, managing resources, and maintaining records.

You will partner with supervision, engineers, crews, and contractors to ensure timely, compliant project delivery. The role offers exposure to regulatory requirements, mapping and asset-management systems, and opportunities to advance within utility operations

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred.
• Minimum three years in utility/substation planning, scheduling, or technical field experience if degree not present.
• Knowledge of substations, transmission/distribution systems and equipment.
• Familiarity with NESC/NEC and utility standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule substation maintenance, construction, and capital projects.
• Coordinate work activities, staffing, equipment, materials, and switching orders.
• Maintain records and support project documentation and closeout.
• Monitor progress, provide status reports and productivity metrics.
• Collaborate with engineers, operations, contractors, and stakeholders.
