Job summary

FirstEnergy, headquartered in Akron, OH, is seeking a Substation Planner to provide planning, scheduling, and technical support for Substation Operations and Construction. You will coordinate resources, prepare work packages, manage schedules, and maintain records to ensure safe and reliable electric service.

This on-site role requires collaboration with engineers, contractors, and field crews, with opportunities to advance in utility project coordination.

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent experience in substation planning, maintenance, or construction.
Working knowledge of NESC/NEC and utility standards.
Ability to interpret drawings, diagrams, and specifications.
Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Plan and schedule substation maintenance, construction, and capital projects to support system reliability and operational goals.
Coordinate with engineering, operations, contractors, property owners, and stakeholders.
Maintain records and support project closeout requirements.
Monitor work progress, track backlog, and provide status reports.
Assist in preparing documentation for regulatory inspections.
Travel to substations and construction sites as required.
Ensure safety and compliance with company policies.
