Job summary

Asplundh Engineering Services (AES) seeks a Substation Physical Design Engineer in Atlanta, GA to design medium- and high-voltage substations from concept through commissioning. You will collaborate with clients, PMs, engineers, and sub-consultants to deliver compliant, reliable power infrastructure.

The role requires a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, 4+ years of substation experience, EIT certification, and strong knowledge of NEC/NESC/IEEE/ANSI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• 4+ years of experience in medium- and high-voltage substation design.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards related to substation design.
• Experience with switchgear, transformers, breakers, relays, and cables.
• EIT certification required; PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual to detailed physical substation designs for HV facilities.
• Perform engineering calculations, construction estimates, and equipment specs.
• Apply NEC/NESC/IEEE/ANSI standards to deliver compliant solutions.
• Coordinate with clients, PMs, engineers, and sub-consultants for project delivery.
• Support schedule, budget, quality, and deliverables throughout the lifecycle.
• Interface with customers to understand requirements and deadlines.
