Job summary

Asplundh Engineering Services (AES) seeks a Substation Physical Design Engineer to design medium- and high-voltage substations, supporting safe, reliable power delivery. You will contribute from concept through commissioning, collaborating with clients, PMs, engineers, and partners to deliver compliant solutions.

Tasks include electrical layouts, grounding, conduits, lighting, BOMs, and engineering analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in electrical engineering or technology.
• EIT certification required; PE preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed physical substation designs for medium- and high-voltage facilities.
• Perform engineering calculations, construction estimates, equipment specs, and design analyses.
• Apply NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI standards to deliver compliant solutions.
• Coordinate with clients, PMs, engineers, and sub-consultants to resolve technical challenges.
• Support schedule, budget, quality, and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
• Interface with customers to understand requirements, communicate progress, and meet deadlines.
