Job summary

RMS Energy is seeking a Substation Engineer to lead the engineering, design, and execution of substation modernization and brownfield upgrades. You will serve as both the technical lead and primary customer contact, guiding projects from concept through final delivery with high‑quality engineering solutions.

You will develop P&C designs, coordinate with field teams, and ensure compliance with codes and customer specifications while traveling 15–20% and working remotely when needed.

Qualifications

• 4–5+ years of electrical engineering experience with design and field work.
• P&C design experience.
• Physical substation design experience.
• Power system modeling and relay design using SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, and AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
• Experience with relay/replacement and control system modernization.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Self-starting with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design and support brownfield substation upgrades and modernization projects.
• Develop P&C designs for transmission and distribution substations.
• Support relay replacements, breaker replacements, RTU replacements, and control system upgrades.
• Update wiring diagrams and documentation to reflect modifications.
• Serve as primary engineering contact for customers and provide technical support.
