Job summary

K&A Power Group in the Boston/Worcester area is seeking a highly motivated Field Construction Manager- Substation to lead day-to-day field activities on substation and underground transmission projects. You will oversee civil and electrical construction, review drawings, coordinate with engineering, and ensure safety, quality, and schedules in compliance with Massachusetts codes.

Strong leadership, 5+ years of relevant experience, and direct experience with electrical substations are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline; extensive field experience may substitute for degree.
• Minimum 5+ years of directly relevant field construction experience in electrical utility infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience with the construction of electrical substations.
• Experience with underground high-voltage/transmission cable construction and civil infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day field construction management and oversight for substation and underground transmission projects.
• Coordinate civil construction activities: site development, excavation, grading, drainage, foundations, duct banks, trenches, equipment pads, structural work.
• Oversee electrical construction: substation equipment installation, grounding, conduit/cable systems, underground transmission cables.
• Review drawings/specifications/work packages and provide practical input.
• Identify field conflicts, safety concerns, and schedule impacts; drive timely resolutions.
