Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer 2 in Cary, NC to join a project team focused on the electrical design and project management of high voltage substations. You will participate in conceptualization, planning, and execution while addressing a range of electrical engineering challenges.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering with power/utility experience, 3D modeling, and familiarity with AI tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with coursework in Coding, 3D Modeling/Design, and AI.
• Knowledge of design techniques for technical plans, blueprints, and 3D visualization without CAD assistance.
• 1 or more years of experience in the power or electric utility industry.
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Experience in reviewing design drawings and proficiency with MS Office applications.
• ABET-accredited program preferred; PE license and AutoCAD experience valued.

Responsibilities

• Take an active role in project conceptualization, work planning, and project execution.
• Support assignments that include investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving electrical engineering issues.
• Prepare reports presenting technical and project information clearly to meet client requirements and S&L formats.
• Share knowledge with peers through Communities of Practice to develop your career.
• Travel to client sites as needed; work within a hybrid model (3 days in office, 2 remote).
• Relocation package may be available depending on location.
