NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP seeks an Engineer - Substations to perform electrical engineering for high voltage substations, including planning, scope development, estimating, and equipment specification. The role requires coordinating projects and delivering technical designs for reliable energy delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (BSEE) from ABET‑accredited program and 2+ years of experience.
• Experience in electric substation maintenance and field engineering.
• Professional Engineering license in applicable state.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards (NERC/NPCC/ISO/PUC).

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate large-scale engineering projects with cost tracking.
• Perform engineering analyses for equipment ratings, grounding, and protection.
• Provide technical support to maintenance and field operations staff.
• Assist in design standards and evaluate new products/vendors.
• Develop maintenance programs, specs, and capital budget support.
• Provide preliminary designs and estimates for planning studies.
