Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group seeks a Design Engineer - Substation to perform substation design assignments, including layout and protection/control systems, ensuring safety and construction standards compliance. You will design components, select materials, and prepare design documents in collaboration with engineers and drafters across the QISG platform.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
• Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is highly desirable; this is required for the Design Engineer 4 band.
• Curiosity about substation components and willingness to learn; prior design or construction experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components and yard layouts.
• Develop protection and control schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Prepare design drawings, calculations and bills of material.
• Perform engineering calculations (voltage drop, grounding, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and field personnel to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain project documentation and calculations.
• Identify and communicate potential issues and solutions to stakeholders.
• Travel as required (up to 10–25%).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
