Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Design Engineer - Substation to perform substation design assignments including physical layout and protection & control systems, ensuring safety and standards compliance.

You will develop protection schematics, wiring diagrams, and Bills of Material, collaborating with engineers and field personnel to ensure project accuracy and efficiency. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• FE exam desirable; required for Design Engineer 4 band.
• ABeT-accredited engineering degree.
• Curiosity to learn major substation components; prior design/construction experience a plus.
• Entry-level acceptable; higher bands reward more experience.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components and yard layouts, grounding, protection & control.
• Develop protection schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists and panel layouts.
• Prepare design drawings, calculations, and bills of material.
• Perform engineering calculations including voltage drop and grounding analysis.
• Ensure compliance with NEC/NESC/NEMA/IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and field personnel to provide solutions.
• Maintain project documentation and support calculations.
• Raise potential issues and propose solutions to stakeholders.
• Travel to project locations as required.
