Job summary

Evergy is seeking a Substation Physical Design Engineer to perform detailed design and studies for the company's electrical substations. You will work with multiple teams to resolve technical issues, develop one-line diagrams, and prepare cost estimates for multi-year projects.

The role requires an ABET-accredited engineering degree and strong engineering fundamentals with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical) from an ABET accredited program.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles and mathematics.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design of substations to meet safety and reliability standards.
• Develop system one-line diagrams and select substation equipment.
• Produce project scopes and cost estimates for multi-year projects and budgets.
• Visit project sites to collect design info, troubleshoot, and assist commissioning.
• Direct designers/technicians and act as a technical resource for internal customers.
