Job summary

Central Hudson is seeking an Engineer – Electric Substation Design to plan, design, and manage substation projects within our electric system. You will deliver constructible work packages and coordinate with drafting and operations teams to meet the capital plan and emergencies.

The role requires a degree in engineering, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced utility environment. On-site responsibilities and industry collaboration are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or civil engineering.
• Strong analytical, organizational and quantitative skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a group safely.
• Interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships.
• Flexibility to multitask and operate under pressure.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Design work for electric substations and related facilities.
• Lead small/medium ESD projects from start to finish.
• Ensure safety in all designs and plans.
• Collaborate with drafting, substation operations and protection teams.
• Support storm restoration efforts.
• Represent Central Hudson in industry organizations.
