Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC in Salt Lake City is seeking a Design Engineer - Substation to lead substation design assignments, including physical layout and protection and control systems, while ensuring safety and code compliance.

You will collaborate with engineers and field personnel across the QISG platform to prepare design documents, perform calculations, and ensure project accuracy; travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
• Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is highly desirable; required for Design Engineer 4 band.
• Willingness to travel up to 10–25% for project assignments.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Design substation components and yard layouts, grounding, protection and control systems.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists and panel layouts.
• Produce design drawings, calculations and bills of material from engineering documents.
• Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop, cable pulling, flicker and grounding analysis.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Maintain project documentation and support engineering calculations.
• Travel as required for projects and assignments.
