Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an Electrical Engineering student intern to support P&C substation design activities in Pasadena, CA. You will assist with design drawings, calculations, and coordination with senior engineers while gaining hands-on exposure to utility projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s in electrical engineering (ABET-approved).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• 1–3 years of related academic or project experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with substation design and construction standards preferred.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification preferred but not required.
• Local candidates only.
• Background checks, drug testing, and/or fit-for-duty physical examination may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing P&C substation design drawings and engineering calculations.
• Perform careful self-checking to ensure work quality before presentation to senior design reviewers.
• Communicate and coordinate project activities with the senior engineer and/or project manager.
• Use client and/or company information systems to track and update design activities.
• Assist senior engineers during job site meetings to gather scope of work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
