Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers Inc is seeking a Substation Design Engineer Intern to join our team in the greater Southwest region, supporting a large electric utility client. You will help develop physical or protection and control substation design drawings and calculations under the direction of a senior engineer, reporting to the Substation Engineering Manager or Lead Engineer.

The role is part-time with hybrid work in San Diego, offering hands-on experience in substation engineering and exposure

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's in electrical engineering (ABET-approved).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/MicroStation and MS Office.
• 1-3 years of related academic or project experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing substation design drawings and calculations for electric utility clients.
• Perform self-checking to ensure quality before review by senior designers.
• Communicate and coordinate activities with the senior engineer or project manager.
• Utilize client/company systems to track and update design activities.
• Assist senior engineers during job-site meetings to gather scope.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
