Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp in Greensburg is seeking a Substation Design Engineer to create and manage engineering designs, equipment, and standards for the Substation Engineering group. You will work with engineers, drafters, and vendors to support project estimation through construction and record updates.

The role emphasizes technical support to Substation/Transmission teams, safety, budgeting, and on-time delivery. PE preferred; willingness to travel within the service area may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited institution.
• PE license is preferred; FE certificate is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience.
• MS Office and AutoCAD knowledge; FileNet, SAP and Cascade are pluses.

Responsibilities

• Create engineering designs and work scopes for substation projects and coordinate documentation.
• Review designs to ensure safety and compliance for transmission lines and substations.
• Prepare bills of material and specifications for equipment and materials.
• File applications and documentation for engineering permits when needed.
• Coordinate with Real Estate, Project Management, Construction and other teams to support project delivery.
• Support and coordinate with outside firms and equipment manufacturers as needed.
