FirstEnergy is seeking a Substation Design Engineer to develop and manage electrical substation designs, equipment layouts, and related documentation. The role supports project estimation, procurement and compliance across internal teams and external partners.

The position requires a BS in engineering (ABET) with 2+ years of experience, or PE/FE pathway. The role may be located in Greensburg or Reading, PA and involves coordination with Real Estate, PM, Construction and field personnel.

Competenze

• ABET-accredited BS in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Eng required; PE license or advanced degree acceptable.
• FH/FE license preferred or potential to stamp and seal designs as PE.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office; familiarity with FileNet, SAP and Cascade a plus.

Mansioni

• Create engineering designs and work scopes for substation projects, including steel structures, foundations, layouts, grounding and protective systems.
• Ensure designs support safety for staff, contractors and the public.
• Prepare bills of material and specifications for equipment procurement.
• Coordinate permits, reviews and documentation; PE preferred.
• Review NESC clearances and support maintenance and safety.
• Collaborate with Real Estate for property acquisitions and easement plans.
• Direct engineers, drafters and external firms to gather data and complete designs.
• Assist in project estimation, schedule alignment and budget adherence.
• Support cross-functional teams and communicate project status clearly.
