Job summary

FirstEnergy seeks an Engineer III to support high voltage transmission maintenance across its footprint, performing engineering reviews, civil design work, and project coordination with field and office teams. You will present proposals to management and ensure safety and reliability in project execution.

Located in Fairmont, WV or Greensburg, PA, the role requires a BS in engineering (ABET), FE preferred, and at least 3 years of experience; mining/blasting experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• FE Certificate preferred.
• Minimum 3 years engineering experience.
• Mining or blasting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of NESC/NERC RF standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Generate and maintain a current list of potential transmission projects.
• Conduct technical engineering reviews and develop civil designs for transmission line infrastructure.
• Prioritize projects based on performance, outages, and customer impact.
• Lead field reviews, scope definition, and coordination with design engineers.
• Perform periodic quality control field inspections and document results.
• Present projects to upper management for approval and funding.
