Job summary

Pepco, part of Exelon, is seeking an engineer for substation design focused on protection and controls. The role includes relocation, extension, abandonment, and removal of facilities per published standards and CAD-based methods.

You will review customer and agency plans, determine costs, permits, and resources, and coordinate with field teams while maintaining ongoing customer communication. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Algebra, trigonometry and drafting knowledge for drawings and plans.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and diagrams; learn utility design standards.
• Must pass Technical Occupations Selection System Test.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet driving standards.
• May need to become Notary Public in Maryland.
• Experience with utility processes and CADD required.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection and control facilities per standards.
• Review customer/agency plans to assess interference, costs and resources.
• Coordinate planning with field construction and obtain necessary approvals.
• Maintain customer contact to ensure commitments are met and changes are approved.
