Job summary

Quanta-Services is seeking a Design Engineer I in Lone Tree, CO to perform substation design assignments, including physical layouts and protection & control systems, while complying with safety and construction standards.

You will work with engineers and field personnel to ensure accuracy and efficiency, report to a Supervising Engineer, and advance within a four-band title as you gain mastery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is highly desirable.
• Curiosity for and willingness to learn about substation components; prior design/construction experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with standard office software for documentation and communication.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components, including yard layouts, grounding, protection, and power systems.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists, and panel layouts.
• Produce design drawings, calculations, and bills of material from engineering documents.
• Carry out engineering calculations such as voltage drop and grounding analyses.
• Ensure adherence to NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Perform quality reviews and provide improvement recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to implement solutions.
• Maintain detailed project documentation and calculations.
• Escalate project issues and propose solutions to stakeholders.
• Travel for short periods as required.
