Job summary

Quanta Government Solutions is seeking a Design Engineer I to perform substation design tasks including physical layouts and protection and control systems. The role involves selecting materials, preparing design documents, and collaborating with engineers and field personnel to ensure project accuracy and efficiency.

Design responsibilities include yard layouts, grounding, protection schematics, and bill of materials, with travel for project assignments as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s in electrical engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Experience or familiarity with substation components is a plus.
• Candidate should be able to collaborate with engineers and field personnel.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components including yard layouts, grounding, protection and control systems.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists and panel layouts.
• Create design drawings, calculations and bills of material from engineering documents.
• Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop, grounding analysis and cable pulling.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI and related standards.
• Maintain detailed project documentation and support engineering calculations.
