Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group in Paramus, NJ, seeks a Design Engineer I to perform substation design assignments, including physical layout, protection & control, and equipment selection. You will prepare design documents and collaborate with engineers and field personnel to ensure project accuracy and safety compliance under supervision of a Supervising Engineer.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (ABET-accredited) and desirable FE exam.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is highly desirable.
• Curiosity for and willingness to learn about substation components; basic knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components, including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control buildings, raceways, and power systems.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists and panel layouts.
• Prepare design drawings, calculations, and bills of material from engineering documents for planning, construction, operation, and maintenance.
• Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop, cable pulling, and grounding analysis.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
