Job summary

Pike Engineering is seeking a capable Substation Engineer to support physical engineering tasks for transmission substations up to 500kV, including battery storage and solar collector projects. You will interpret complex design drawings, apply engineering principles, and collaborate with other design teams, contractors, and clients to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET/EAC or NCEES-recognized), up to 2 years of experience, and

Qualifications

• 0 to 2 years’ experience as a practicing engineer (entry-level)
• Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret physical designs for substations up to 500kV, including layouts, foundations, lighting, fencing, grounding, and bus designs
• Understand installation requirements for HV equipment (transformers, switches, breakers, PTs, CCVTs, surge arresters)
• Perform bus calculations and ground grid design calculations using appropriate software
• Coordinate with multiple design disciplines, contractors, and clients
• Visit sites to advise on engineering issues and modify designs during construction
• Provide basic project management to coordinate staff and tasks
