Job summary

GAI Consultants is seeking a Technical Specialist (Electrical Engineer) to join the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Pittsburgh, PA office. The role emphasizes design of substations, coordination with protection and control, and preparing engineering deliverables.

The candidate should have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple assignments with a client-first approach. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program with strong coursework in electrical power concepts/AC power systems analysis
• Strong communication skills, including written and oral communication, to work with internal and external client personnel
• Detail-oriented and professional with a Client First approach
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and strong time management
• Proficiency with MS Office applications

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design of low to extra-high-voltage substations and switchyards
• Develop and revise drawings for one line, physical arrangement, schematics, wiring diagrams, grounding, conduit and wire schedules, BOM
• Integrate substation layout with protection and control drawings
• Develop control and relay panel layouts including specifications
• Create project criteria and design specifications including BOM
• Design and size auxiliary systems including AC/DC load centers, batteries and chargers
• Design conduit, cable, and backup generators; travel to client/vendor sites for reviews
• Assist with scope of services and cost estimates for substation and P&C projects
