Job summary

GAI Consultants is seeking a Technical Specialist (Electrical Engineer) to join the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Overland Park, KS office. You will perform detailed design of substations and switchyards and develop drawings, wiring diagrams, and battery sizing, coordinating with CAD operators.

This role emphasizes interfacing protection and control, travel to client sites for reviews, and field verification of designs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with coursework in electrical power concepts/AC power systems analysis.
Strong written and oral communication to work with internal and external personnel.
Detail-oriented with a client-first approach and professional demeanor.
Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with good time management.
Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed design of low to extra-high-voltage substations and switchyards.
Develop and revise drawings for one line, physical arrangement, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, grounding, conduit and BOMs, and equipment layouts; coordinate with CAD operators.
Integrate substation design with protection and control drawings.
Develop control and relay panel layouts and specifications.
Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to site locations for construction coordination and field verification.
Assist with scope development and cost estimates for substation projects.
