Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Technical Specialist 4 to perform protection and control design for high voltage substations from 12kV through 500kV. The role includes mentoring staff, guiding design reviews, and coordinating with clients on multiple projects.

The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of substation design experience, a B.S. in Engineering, and a valid driver’s license. Travel to client sites and other offices is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years in substation design.
• B.S. Engineering or other technical degree.
• Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and check protection and control drawings for substations (one-lines, three-lines, SCADA).
• Perform voltage drop calculations and load studies for AC/DC systems.
• Develop project criteria and BOMs with cables lists.
• Size auxiliary systems, batteries, and chargers.
• Review junior staff designs for compliance with client standards.
• Lead design reviews, QAQC, and project document control.
