Job summary

GAI Consultants is seeking a Technical Specialist (Electrical Engineer) to join our Overland Park, KS office in the Power Delivery Substation Department. The role emphasizes substation design, CAD coordination, and field verification to ensure high-quality electrical infrastructure.

The position requires a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a client-first attitude. Travel to sites and client offices is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with strong power concepts/AC analysis.
• Strong written and oral communication for client interactions.
• Detail-oriented with professional client-first approach.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Proficient with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design of low to extra-high-voltage substations and switchyards.
• Revise drawings for one line, electrical schematics, grounding, and BOMs.
• Coordinate with CAD operators to produce quality drawings.
• Integrate substations with protection and control drawings.
• Develop control and relay panel layouts and specifications.
• Travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews and field verification.
