Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp in Greensburg, PA is seeking a Substation Design Standards Engineer to create and manage substation designs and related documentation. The role supports safety, O&M, Real Estate, Project Management and Construction teams throughout project lifecycles.

You will prepare material lists, review permits, coordinate with outside firms and manufacturers, and ensure schedules align with in-service dates. On-site work with potential travel within FE service area.

Qualifications

• BSEE from an ABET-accredited program is required.
• PE license preferred; FE certificate preferred.
• Ability to stamp engineering drawings as PE when needed.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Create engineering designs and work scope for substation projects with necessary documentation.
• Ensure designs support a safe environment for personnel, contractors and the public.
• Prepare bills of material and specifications to procure equipment and materials.
• Review NESC clearance requirements and coordinate with Maintenance and Real Estate.
• Assist Real Estate in acquisition of substation property; coordinate sketches and easement plans.
• Direct technical personnel and work with outside firms and manufacturers.
• Provide engineering support to staff and review manufacturer drawings.
• Analyze issues and propose design options; prepare project estimates.
