Job summary

FirstEnergy is recruiting for a field engineering role based in the Towanda area, PA. The engineer will perform maintenance, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment up to 500 kV, with significant field work at multiple facilities.

Strong focus on safety, teamwork, and delivering reliable project outcomes. The role requires a BS in Engineering, 3+ years’ experience, and likely travel within the FirstEnergy system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (ABET).
• FE certificate preferred.
• Minimum 3 years engineering experience.
• Experience with substation design, maintenance or testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe workplace and comply with regulations.
• Commission new transmission substation equipment before release.
• Develop check-out guides, test results, and energization plans.
• Provide field design support for minor problems in substations.
• Offer onsite technical support during maintenance activities.
• Communicate across multi-disciplinary teams to ensure timely completion.
• Assist in root-cause analyses and technical reporting.
• Mentor technicians and other engineers.
• Travel within FirstEnergy system as needed.
