Job summary

Progressive is seeking an Electrical Substation Design Engineer in Oakland, CA. The role involves creating detailed substation and electrical infrastructure drawings, and developing comprehensive design packages using AutoCAD.

You will support transformer, circuit breaker, protection and control projects, perform engineering analyses, and collaborate with multiple teams across engineering, construction, operations, and project management to ensure successful execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 4-5+ years of utility design experience.
• AutoCAD experience.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering designs and drawings for substation and electrical infrastructure projects.
• Create and maintain design packages using AutoCAD.
• Support projects involving transformers, circuit breakers, protection & control systems, and other substation equipment
• Perform engineering analysis, calculations, and design reviews
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, operations, and project management teams
• Support project planning, field assessments, and construction execution
