Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP in Emeryville is seeking a Substation Electrical Designer to join our Power Delivery team. You will draft detailed electrical construction drawings for PG&E high-voltage projects (4kV to 500kV) using AutoCAD and MicroStation, ensuring projects meet PG&E standards.

The role reports to the Lead Substation Design Engineer and emphasizes quality, coordination with engineers and project managers, and accurate documentation such as BOMs and panel elevations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent substation experience.
• 5–8 years in substation design or similar with utility/consulting firm.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Draft and detail electrical construction drawings using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Create BOMs, conduit and cable schedules, and panel elevations.
• Perform self-checks for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Coordinate design activities with clients and project managers.
• Support field teams during site walks and RFIs.
• Ensure designs conform to PG&E TSMs and client requirements.
