Job summary

Pike Electric, Inc. seeks a Control Electrician A to support the Substation Group in the Charlotte area. This non-exempt role focuses on the construction, maintenance, and repair of 525 kV and below substations with emphasis on safety and quality workmanship.

You will lead crews, interpret drawings, and install switchgear, transformers, and control wiring. Travel up to 90% and overtime during emergencies may be required; strong PLC knowledge and electrical theory are essential.

Qualifications

  • Requires 6-8 years of experience with 525 kV and below substations
  • Must be able to climb and work at heights up to 60 feet
  • Must supply own hand tools and safety boots
  • Must possess or obtain CDL
  • Ability to interpret substation drawings and schematics
  • Strong PLC and control wiring knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Install and troubleshoot protection and control schemes for substations
  • Maintain company vehicles, test equipment, and tools
  • Work around energized equipment with safety as a priority
  • Lead/coach crew members on site
  • Interpret conduit plans, cable schedules, and terminations
  • Operate voltmeters, meggers, and rotation meters accurately
