Job summary

R.R. Cassidy, Inc. is seeking a Substation Superintendent to lead field teams across substation construction, maintenance, and repair projects. You will oversee crews, ensure safety, meet schedules, and comply with utility specifications.

The role requires 5–10+ years in HV substation work, ability to read complex diagrams, and strong leadership and reporting skills. Travel to remote job sites and outdoor work are expected.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of experience in high‑voltage substation construction/maintenance, typically including prior experience as a foreman or lead.
• Demonstrated experience with substation equipment up to 500kV.
• Strong knowledge of electrical theory, substation equipment, and testing procedures.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and one‑line diagrams.
• Leadership, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Proficiency with scheduling and reporting tools/software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise foremen, journeyman electricians, and crew members on substation construction or maintenance projects.
• Assign daily tasks, manage crew schedules, and coordinate multiple crews across job sites.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate field personnel; enforce discipline and performance standards.
• Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment (transformers, breakers, switchgear, bus work, control systems).
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, one‑line diagrams, and construction specifications.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and utility/client representatives on project execution.
• Track progress against schedule and budget; report status to project management.
• Enforce safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout, arc‑flash protection, and PPE compliance.
• Maintain a zero‑incident safety culture on site.
• Coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, and tool/vehicle maintenance.
• Manage inventory and minimize waste or downtime due to shortages.
• Complete daily reports, timesheets, safety documentation, and quality control records.
• Participate in pre‑job planning and post‑job reviews.
