Job summary

OG&E in Oklahoma City is seeking a Substation Construction Tech Apprentice to learn the construction and maintenance of substations under supervision, through coursework and on‑the‑job training.

The role includes assisting in installing, wiring, and testing equipment, mentoring with experienced crews, and progressing through a structured journey toward fully qualified status with increasing responsibilities and pay.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a mechanical or electrical discipline is preferred.
• Military experience in mechanical/electrical fields may qualify.
• Two years of mechanical/electrical experience acceptable.
• Relevant vocational or trade school certificate may apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist in training crew members on tools and equipment and proper job procedures.
• Prepare and execute switching for maintenance, tests and repairs in a safe manner.
• Ensure proper installation, wiring and panels, wire-ways and equipment.
• Assist with layout and erection of structural steel for substation components.
• Support safe operation and inspection of newly installed equipment.
