Job summary

Pike Corporation is seeking a Substation Engineer to provide physical engineering and technical support for transmission substation projects, energy storage, and solar substations in the New Jersey area.

The role requires reading complex designs, performing critical calculations, and coordinating with multiple teams from design through construction to ensure safe, cost-effective and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program or equivalent evaluation by NCEES.
• 0–2 years’ engineering experience in utility/substation projects.
• Fundamental understanding of engineering principles applicable to substations.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret substation designs up to 500 kV including layouts, foundations, and grounding plans.
• Perform bus, grounding, and protection-related calculations; use software for grid design.
• Collaborate with design disciplines, contractors, and clients; communicate design issues clearly.
• Visit project sites to advise on engineering issues and modify designs during construction.
• Provide general project management support to coordinate tasks and staff.
