Job summary

Ulteig Engineers, Inc. is seeking CADD Technician Interns for Summer 2027 in our Substation Department. This internship offers hands-on drafting experience, building construction drawings and supporting project success in the power and utility sectors.

You'll use AutoCAD to prepare plan sets and diagrams, learn to read electrical drawings, and collaborate with engineers and CAD technicians to ensure quality deliverables. Full-time summer internship with potential for continued work.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or recently completed a two-year technical degree in Drafting, CAD Technology/ Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; knowledge of MicroStation or Revit is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with redline/greenline drafting workflows is a plus.
• Interest in electrical protection, substation physical design or related areas is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support assigned engineering teams by providing technical drafting assistance for electrical substation projects
• Assist in the development of construction drawings for substation protection, control, and physical design
• Use AutoCAD to prepare plan sets, diagrams, and design documentation
• Collaborate with engineers and CAD technicians to ensure quality and consistency in drawing packages
• Participate in the application of company standards and client requirements to project deliverables
• Learn to read and interpret electrical drawings, layouts, and design specifications
• Contribute to a team-oriented workflow and help meet project deadlines
