Job summary

AEP is seeking a Substation Designer for our New Albany, OH location. You will use CAD tools like AutoCAD and Inventor to draft substation layouts, equipment configurations, and associated drawings, while supporting field commissioning and documentation.

Applicants should have an Associate degree in CAD or engineering technology or equivalent experience, with 1–2 years in electrical utility drafting or related work; travel and shift requirements may apply.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in CAD or engineering technology with 1–2 years of relevant experience.
• Equivalent experience without AAS: high school diploma and 6 years in drafting.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise and maintain engineering drawings and sketches.
• Use CAD tools to design substation layouts and equipment configurations.
• Coordinate with civil, structural and protection teams for integrated design.
• Review vendor drawings for compliance with standards and project needs.
• Participate in field visits and commissioning activities.
