Job summary

BHMG Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Substation Designer to drive drawing sets and apply design standards for safe, constructible packages. This role supports engineers and designers and can be on-site or hybrid in St.

Louis, MO; Collinsville, IL; or Bettendorf, IA. You will develop one-lines, panels, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and perform design calculations. You’ll prepare BOMs, material specs, and submittal packages while coordinating with survey, civil, and structural

Qualifications

• 5+ years of substation drafting/design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and MicroStation.
• Ability to manage multiple design priorities across concurrent projects.
• Experience interpreting engineering inputs with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Develop one-lines, panel layouts, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules; perform intermediate design calculations and documentation; incorporate SCADA/communications requirements and review vendor drawings for compliance.
• Create equipment arrangements, grounding layouts, conduit/trench plans, and foundation location plans; produce elevations and detail views; apply conductor/cable limitations and constructability considerations.
• Independently prepare bills of materials, material specifications, and required project submittal packages while completing design checklists.
• Integrate survey, civil, and structural inputs into substation electrical and physical designs and update drawings based on construction feedback.
• Maintain organized project documentation, drawing lists, and files across multiple active projects.
