Job summary

Insight Global seeks an Associate Engineering Technician to support electrical substation projects within our EPC team. You will help develop 2D/3D design deliverables and collaborate with engineering on project execution.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years CAD experience, familiarity with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and a relevant degree. Substation, utility, and power delivery exposure is a plus for this junior-to-mid level role.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of drafting, design, or engineering technician experience.
• Experience supporting electrical substation, utility, power delivery, or infrastructure projects.
• BS or AS in Design/Drafting/Engineering Technology.

Responsibilities

• Create and update substation design deliverables (elevations, grounding, conduit plans).
• Develop and maintain drawings and technical documentation using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD tools.
• Review inputs and ensure deliverables meet project requirements, standards and quality.
• Perform basic calculations, material takeoffs, and dimensional checks.
• Coordinate with engineering/design teams to support project execution and reduce conflicts.
• Support quality control and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Stay current on industry technologies, tools, and design processes.
