Job summary

AEP is seeking a Designer Associate/SG3-5 on site in Tulsa, OK or Corpus Christi, TX. You will perform CAD drafting to create and maintain maps, sketches, schematics and detailed drawings with increasing responsibility such as study layouts, design development and cost estimating.

Candidates should have an AAS in drafting/CAD or related tech or equivalent experience. Occasional overtime, travel >50% and strong CAD/MS Office skills are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in AAS drafting/CAD or related engineering technology or equivalent experience.
• Equivalent experience without AAS: high school graduate with 4 years of electric utility CAD drafting work.
• SG4 requires AAS CAD or related with 1–2 years experience; or high school graduate with 6 years experience.
• SG5 requires AAS CAD or related with 4 years experience; or high school graduate with 8 years experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily work routines to maintain efficient production.
• Create, revise and maintain detailed engineering drawings and sketches.
• Create and maintain material and property equipment records.
• Read vendors' prints and incorporate information into work.
• Prepare study layouts and original working drawings per AEP standards.
• Check designs for strength and conformance to standards.
